Coming Soon: The A-COLD-WALL* x Nike TN Air Max Plus Collection

What Is A-COLD-WALL*?

Founded in 2015 at just 25 years old, A-COLD-WALL is the brainchild of Dr. Samuel Ross, an award-winning British designer, creative director, and artist. Through its utilitarian approach and focus on brutalist and abstract forms, A-COLD-WALL has been truly revolutionary for the streetwear industry. Such success has brought with it global recognition from wearers of the clothing and other brands alike, with the attention of Nike spurring a variety of collaborations, starting with the Air Force 1 in 2017, leading to the Vomero Zoom 5 in 2018, and now landing on the Air Max Plus set to launch this month.

The Story Of The Air Max Plus

The story of the Air Max Plus begins in 1998, originally designed as a performance silhouette that has now become synonymous with street culture around the world. Since their inception, there has been no lack of colourways, with the release of hundreds of variations and collaborations to tie in with any style and taste. The Air Max Plus is more commonly known as the “Tn”, nodding to the Tuned Air technology it boasts, an identity that the silhouette thrives off and further ingrains its cult status.

Following on from previous collaborations, A-COLD-WALL is now set to make its mark on the aforementioned Nike Air Max Plus. The A-COLD-WALL* x Nike TN Air Max Plus Collection sticks true to its utilitarian approach and modern aesthetic, the beloved Tn boasts design cues from an architectural perspective, with a specialist treatment on the full-grain leather upper that accelerates degradation, resulting in a truly unique finish with each step taken. Subtle details add to the stealthy, industrial aesthetic, including the thermo-moulded exoskeleton and laser-etched branding. The signature A-COLD-WALL bracket logo sits beneath the heel plate and the base of the tongue, as well as “ACW_NIKE” is printed on the base of the heel beneath the signature TN Air logo. The dual-branded details are both effective and pleasing to the eye, resulting in a finished collaboration that is evidently A-COLD-WALL without the use of extreme branding and unnecessarily complicated colourways. Dropping in three colourways; Onyx, House Blue, and Stone, each pair boasts their own specific meaning. The Onyx iteration emphasises the pair's minimal finish, with the all-black construction nodding to original design cues from Samuel Ross and the brand's brutalist inspiration. The Stone pair is much the opposite, sporting an all-white upper with aged details on the Air bubble cushioning designed to weather over time, pointing to our ever-changing environment and the effects it has on natural objects. The final iteration is House Blue, a bold, vibrant colour that has been at the core of ACW’s collections throughout the years, as well as the shade used within the brand's stores worldwide. The eye-catching pair is sure to make a statement in the collection and further accentuates the collaboration's fine details and powerful backstory.
